Common Issues and Known Issues

If you're experiencing a problem with Transport Fever 3, be sure to check the known problems listed below. We collect confirmed issues here along with any available workarounds or additional information. If your problem is not listed, please use the support form to get in touch with us.

Common Issues

The following issues may occasionally occur on some computers. These suggestions can help resolve common problems with Transport Fever 3.

Black Screen
The screen is black after changing the graphics settings
Press Alt+Enter to switch between fullscreen and windowed mode. If the game becomes visible, open the graphics settings and select a resolution and display mode supported by your monitor.
If the problem persists, restart the game and reset the graphics settings.

The game freezes on startup with a black screen
Make sure your graphics driver is up to date. On systems with both an integrated and a dedicated GPU, verify that Transport Fever 3 is using the dedicated graphics card.

On Windows, GPU selection can be configured under:**Settings → System → Display → Graphics**You can also configure the preferred GPU in the NVIDIA App/NVIDIA Control Panel or AMD Software.
Game Does Not Start
The game does not start or crashes while loading, even without mods
First compare your computer with the **minimum system requirements** listed on the Transport Fever 3 Game Overview page.
If your hardware or operating system does not meet the minimum requirements, the game may not start or may not run correctly.

Also make sure that:- your graphics drivers are up to date;
- your operating system is fully updated;
- the game files have been verified using your game platform;
- no incompatible mods are enabled;
- no third-party overlay, monitoring or security software is interfering with the game.

When troubleshooting startup problems, first try starting the game without mods.

The game icon appears in the taskbar, but no game window is visible
If multiple displays are connected, the game may have opened on another monitor or outside the visible desktop area.

On Windows, select the game window and press: Win+Shift+Left Arrow or Win+Shift+Right Arrow to move it between displays.

You can also press Alt+Enter to switch the game to windowed mode.

The game does not start on Linux
Transport Fever 3 requires a supported 64-bit Linux environment. Make sure your distribution and graphics drivers meet the minimum system requirements.

If the game does not start:- verify the game files;- install all available system updates;
- update your NVIDIA, AMD or Intel graphics drivers;
- disable mods;
- start the game from a terminal and check the output for missing libraries or other errors.

Old Transport Fever 2 workarounds involving manually copying libstdc++ libraries should not be used unless specifically instructed for Transport Fever 3.
Buttons Are Disabled in Main Menu
Some buttons in the main menu are greyed out
Transport Fever 3 may be unable to communicate correctly with the game platform or an online service required by the selected feature.

Check that:
- your internet connection is working;
- Steam, Epic Games Store or GOG is running correctly, depending on where you purchased the game;
- you are signed in to the correct account;
- the game platform is not currently experiencing an outage.

Restarting both the game and the game platform may resolve temporary connection problems.
No Mouse Pointer
The mouse pointer is not visible
Press Alt+Enter to switch between fullscreen and windowed mode.
If the pointer becomes visible, open the graphics or interface settings and change the mouse cursor option if available.

Also check whether overlays or remote-desktop software are interfering with the cursor.
Slow Gameplay
The frame rate is low, even when the game is paused
If performance remains poor while the simulation is paused, the graphics card is likely to be a limiting factor.

Try reducing graphics settings such as:
- resolution;
- anti-aliasing;
- shadow quality;
- texture quality;
- level of detail
;- other GPU-intensive effects.

Running the game at 1920×1080 (Full HD) instead of 3840×2160 (4K/UHD) can significantly reduce GPU load.Also make sure that Transport Fever 3 is using the dedicated graphics card on systems with multiple GPUs.

Increasing the game speed does not make the simulation much faster
If changing the simulation speed to 2× or 4× has little effect, the CPU is likely reaching the limit of how quickly it can process the simulation.

Transport Fever 3 continuously simulates a large number of vehicles, cities, industries, transport connections and other systems. As the map and transport network grow, the amount of simulation work increases.Performance can therefore decrease on large or highly developed maps, particularly with:
- many cities;
- dense transport networks;
- large numbers of vehicles;
- complex road traffic;
- many industries and cargo connections;
- large or demanding mods.

Reducing graphics settings usually has little effect on this type of CPU limitation.

My CPU and GPU exceed the minimum requirements, but the frame rate is still very low
Meeting the minimum system requirements does not guarantee high frame rates in every situation. Performance can also be affected by the size and complexity of the current game.

Other possible causes include:
- applications running in the background;
- insufficient system memory;
- limited graphics memory (VRAM);
- thermal throttling;
- power-saving settings, especially on laptops;
- outdated graphics drivers;
- very high display resolutions;
- demanding mods;
- mods containing unnecessarily high-resolution textures or complex models.

Check CPU, GPU, RAM and VRAM usage while the game is running to identify the limiting component.

If VRAM usage is close to the capacity of the graphics card, reducing texture quality can help considerably.

If the GPU is consistently fully utilized, reduce graphics quality or resolution.

If individual CPU cores are heavily loaded while the GPU is not fully utilized, the simulation itself is more likely to be the limiting factor.
