  1. Awesome! Very happy to see it’s coming to GOG. And the GOG version will be able to take part in all the mods as well because of the new built-in mod system?
It was a major downside to the GOG version for TpF2, since a lot of mods were on the Steam Workshop.

    1. You can keep both games installed if you like (and Transport Fever, and Train Fever if that’s what you fancy.)

  2. Awesome to hear. Here’s for that Mini Map feature I never hear anything about! 😀

  3. Yes, finally the release date, I am so hyped !!! I only got one question, why is the game more expensive on console?
Thank you for making so a great looking game, I am so hyped and I’m gonna pre order it now 🙂 ✅

  4. Thanks for the great news. I’m playing TF2 via Steam – can I upgrade to TF 3 Deluxe with the 10% loyalty discount?

    1. Yes, if you go to steam store you will see already the 10% discount if you have TF2 on steam also.

      1. Hi Carlos,

unfortunately, the discount isn’t being applied.

The standard edition costs €49.99 and the deluxe edition costs €64.99. It doesn’t matter whether I try it in the browser or in the steam client—the 10% discount isn’t being applied.

I currently have licenses for both the App Store version for macOS AND the Steam version (playable on Windows and macOS).

        So what now?

        1. Strange! For me it appears the 10% discount.
I have the TF2 game in my Steam Library. If you also have, don’t have any clue.

        2. The loyalty discount for the new game only applies to players who initially bought their game from the same store and using the same account as they are trying to buy the new game.

Transport Fever 2 players who were given a free copy of the game as a thank-you for being part of the beta test are not be eligible for the discount on the new game as there was no actual purchase made on the platform at that time. Similarly, players who were gifted a game key for other reasons, or who bought the key through a key-selling service/website won’t be eligible for the discount. Without a direct purchase there’s unfortunately no way for us to apply the discount.

    1. Unfortunately, due to tax and customs rules in some countries it is not possible for us to offer the collectors edition globally. Apologies for the disappointment.

  6. Don’t actually know how well Concorde will fit in such a small game world, i mean going supersonic for 50km flight is kind off an overkill

    1. I thing there will be off-map destinations. So Concord would just whizz off the map, then come back in a while.

    1. Unfortunately, due to tax and customs rules in some countries it is not possible for us to offer the collectors edition globally. Apologies for the disappointment.

  7. Why can’t I see the Steam Workshop on the store page? Canceling the Workshop was a bad decision, it’s not friendly to a lot of Steam mod creators.

  8. Amazing news and I’m so excited! When will we be able to see the game’s achievements? Will this be available from launch? Also, what time exactly will it launch on Sept 29?

I have 2 weeks off work and Sept 29 is my first day back at work… I am considering to add a bit more of time off for launch day.

  9. I’m incredibly excited about the game and thrilled that you’ve finally announced the release date. I’ll be pre-ordering it right away. My only minor disappointment is that there still aren’t any magnetic levitation trains (maglevs), but that’s something that could always change in the future through mods, DLCs, or other additions. One feature I would have loved to see is the ability to import real-world maps directly into the game. However, I don’t mean this as criticism at all, these are simply my personal preferences. In any case, thank you to the entire team for all your hard work. I’m really looking forward to the release and can’t wait to play the game!

      1. I thought so since it was possible in Transport Fever 2 as well, althought what I originally imagined was more of a feature where while creating a map you could choose a region on a world map and it would generate it into the game including the roads.

        1. TF2 doesn’t have that level of “easiness”. I saw once a video about that and it was quite complex. Maybe for who knows about mapping representation and management seems obvious and almost straightforward, who knows.

  10. Been waiting a long time for this and can’t wait!

I have all versions … whooo hoooo

Question: I have a Mac mini M4 256gig does anyone know if it will run on this and if so what the performance will be like ?

    Thanks

  11. I’ve seen the release trailer and several previous videos. The game is great!
But the system requirements for it are terrifying. Especially now that the cost of assembling a PC has increased significantly. RAM, video cards, and even motherboards have skyrocketed.
Are the final PC System requirements listed on the game’s page? Or will they be adjusted in the future and we could hope to reduce the PC requirements for playing TF3?

    1. The system requirements are absolutely normal. Do you have a computer from 2015? Let me remind you, it’s 2026. If you want to play at maximum settings, then the requirements will be higher, just like in any other game. But otherwise, TF3 will run on any computer purchased after 2020.

    2. It’s very unlikely that the requirements will decrease in the future. The minimum requirements for the game include graphics cards and processing that are over 10 years old, and as such we’re including the vast majority of PC gamers (based on recent Steam hardware surveys). Unfortunately, the technology behind games is constantly moving forwards so it is inevitable that some increase in requirements will occur.

      1. Thank you. But if you can, one more small question. How many processor cores does this wonderful game use at the moment? As well as TF2 – 4 cores? Or more?

  12. Already pre-ordered, with the Italian language present, I couldn’t avoid it!!!!! YEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSS

  13. So which mod platforms have actually made it into the game? Will there be a Steam Workshop, or just mod.io? I’m sure it’s still possible to install a mod manually…

    1. It is absolutely still possible to install mods manually, so external modding communities are unaffected. The final touches to the Mod Browser are being tested at present, so we’ll confirm whether or not the Steam Workshop will be available very soon.

    1. Collector’s Edition hat keinen. Nur Standard und Deluxe kriegen den rabatt.

    2. The loyalty discount does not unfortunately apply to the collectors edition, since it is not tied to the same account as the previous game.

  14. How do the monuments and special buildings work? Are they part of the map generation or placeable? Can more be added with mods?

    1. Landmark buildings are rewards earned as your company increases in level. After earning them, you will then need to build them, which can be quite a lengthy project to undertake. Each landmark has different benefits that are applied to the municipal area, and yes, more can definitely be added with mods.

  15. So if I switch from TF2 for PC to TF3 for Mac I won’t get the loyalty discount? I don’t understand the reasoning behind this.

    1. The discount is tied to your game account. Providing you purchase the new game with the same account (eg. Steam, Epic Game Store) it should recognise your ownership of the previous game and apply the discount.

      1. Unfortunately I am one of those not seeing the discount on the Store page.

I have all games so far in my Steam library, and (sometimes) when I go to the TpF3 community page that very first announcement panel shows a discounted price but when I click it and go to the main Store page, all I see is the standard pricing. 😢

I believe others have reported this to Steam and been told that there is no script on the page for a discount on this game! Can you shed any light on what might be happening here?

        1. We have a handful of reports of not seeing the 10% loyalty discount and are investigating. We’re looking into it, but it may be a day or two before there’s any progress.

  16. Great news about the release date! I hope you’re feeling confident about the game’s readiness (of course, there will always be some hiccups when it goes public), and that it will become a huge success. I truly believe you deserve it after all the hard work you’ve put into it.
    Some questions, if I may:
I already have the Deluxe version on my shopping cart, but not yet pulled the trigger. But I think I’ll not resist! One question though: will the price increase at/after launch date?
Will the game/modding information/documentation be only available at/after launch date, or will be some more detailed information ‘till there?

    Thank you.

    1. The loyalty bonus will remain active for 14 days after release, so if you’d rather wait until the first reviews come in you risk nothing by doing so.

With regard to modding information and additional details on the game, we’ll get some dates confirmed next week once we’re back from Gamescom.

  17. Good afternoon, do we already know the map sizes and everything related to that, or is it still too early to tell?
    Thank you

    1. It’s too soon to say whether they will be larger than previous as this is something we’re actively testing. We can guarantee that the maps will be at least as big as in Transport Fever 2, and we hope to be able to confirm whether we’ve achieved stable gameplay at larger sizes soon. For the time being please assume that maps will be the same size as in the previous game.

      1. So can you confirm that the biggest map size in TPF3 is at least the same size as the biggest experimental map in TPF2? Or is it just the same size as the biggest normal map of TPF2?
Anything less than the biggest experimental map size of TPF2 makes TPF3 a definitive no-go for me, unfortunately.

        1. We are still experimenting with map sizes to find out where the acceptable line for performance is and will confirm details once we have them. Unlike other areas of the game, increasing the size of the map is relatively easy in principle, but stability becomes a significantly greater problem which is why we’re able to continue experimenting. For now we can only guarantee the same map sizes as Transport Fever 2. If there’s any change in this regard we’ll post an update, so please assume no change to avoid disappointment.

          1. Thank you for taking the time to answer all the questions.
The map size for TPF3, uh, that does not sound good. You clearly missed the opportunity during the last 7 years to scale your engine to full multi-core distribution, which these days are needed for complex simulation game. Other simulation games have done that successfully. It’s a pity that such a wonderful and outstanding simulation game like TPF2 and TPF3 still hit their limit at a fraction of available CPU power with most CPU cores on idle. But well, that’s nothing that can be changed anymore for TPF3 because it requires a significant effort to take that step. One that fully pays out for the future.

Given that we get what we get, I have the following thought (and I can’t be the first one with this):
My guess is that the main performance killer is probably 1. amount of agents your need to simulate (citizens, vehicles … goods?) and 2. pathfinding complexity on large maps. Hence performance falls down the abyss in the late game of large maps. I assume, however, that many people screaming for larger maps (like me), primarily want larger maps to increase the distance between cities and factories. Not necessarily to have more of them on it. On TPF2, on the largest experimental map, I usually choose a low amount of cities and factories, to keep performance in check, and I’m happy with the amount of cities and resources.

So, why not creating a really large map but limit the amount of cities and resources? In addition, I also do not need infinite growth of people (agents) in all towns. So I’d be fine with a growth curve that flattens on larger maps / larger populations, so that in the end game population only grows very marginally over time. By that you could bascially cap the amount of agents coming from population growth. If you still want to increase resource demand, you could define different classes of citizens, where higher class citizens need more of what you produce. Demand increases without citizen increase. Of course, you will still have an increase of vehicles (agents) here.

At the same time, if you limit the amount of resources and cities on very large maps, you will also limit the complexity of pathfinding.

Any thoughts about this approach? My naive guess would be that this way you could at least partly mitigate the massive performance hit in the late game of large maps. And that approach would be much more motivating for me (very large map with limited amount of cities, resources and population growth) compared to a smaller map stuffed with city next to city, where my ICE train is longer than the distance between two cities …

  18. Muy buenas noticias saber que el mes que viene ya estará disponible.
La edición de luxe contiene también los reagalos de la versión standar?
Muchas gracias y enhorabuena a todo el equipo de Urban Games.

    1. That depends on the individual mod and its creator. Providing the original mod-creator adjusts and uploads the mod, you should be able to use many of the mods from the previous game. They are very unlikely to work by default as there are more elements to consider with the new game.

  19. It’s not just Latin America missing out on the merch, no part of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, nor Australia, nor New Zealand appear on the list of available destinations. 🙁

    Surely some mistake here…?

    1. Unfortunately, additional tax and customs regulations limit where our physical merchandise can be shipped. Apologies for the disappointment.

    1. Yes, absolutely. We don’t expect anyone to pick up the game without first seeing it in action, and as much as the videos we’ve released so far show the game as it is, nothing beats real, live, unedited gameplay. You will have plenty to choose from before the game launches.

    2. Yes, absolutely. As well as our own gameplay video there will be gameplay video entirely without any editorial oversight from us available before release.

  21. I got my pre-order for the Deluxe Version in but was a bit disappointed with the merch store, clothing only for those that love black and I wish the collectors edition had been broken down into individual items so that others could just buy a certain item like the Art Book which to me is really the only worthwhile item having. I think the devs missed out on an opportunity here in bundling everything in the collectors edition together because that €119 price is a bit unrealistic for most buyers, and they could have sold more with the individual pieces nd also offering other colour than just black for the clothing side.

  22. @Sam: You claimed there will be no day one DLC and that DLCs will only be cosmetic by nature. It has been stated now that there is a day one DLC marked as ‘Deluxe version’ with essential vehicles. Is there a reason why it was proclaimed differently in the past?

    1. While this is a semantic question, we have released deluxe editions in the past and as such do not consider special editions to be DLC. We should have made this more explicitly obvious, so apologies for the misunderstanding.

      1. Thanks a lot for your response. Just to manage my expectations: According to your semantics would you qualify the introduction of new vehicles as a “cosmetic DLC”? I’m asking because you said on the steam forum that UG have only planned “cosmetic DLC”s in the future and as you don’t consider the Deluxe version as a day 1 DLC I’m kind of unsure now what that means.

Thanks in advance for your response and enjoy Gamescon!

        1. Yes – additional game content (vehicles, buildings, scenery etc) would fall under cosmetics, while functionality and tools would not.

The Deluxe edition is an alternative version of the game with a few more cosmetic items. Again, if you believe differently I won’t argue with you, the intent here was not to mislead.

  23. Honestly, i’m disappointed. The so-called loyalty discount is just a launch discount that every game gets on Steam.

I was hyped about the launch and was waiting for a discount for legacy players but now i’ll wait until the discount is reasonable.

    1. Let’s be honest, TPF2 came out nearly 7 years ago and was maintained for free during the whole period. That is quite extraordinary and I really don’t see a need for any “loyalty discount” after 7 years. In addition, the price is very fair, so be happy that there is even a launch discount.

I’d expect significant “loyalty discounts” of those franchises that yearly push a new version for full price on the market, often with very limited added value, just to make money. The Transport Fever series certainly are the opposite of that and I am grateful for this.

    1. Due to the nature of the internet, there can be a large number of spam comments on these articles. We filter these out manually before approving everything else – positive/negative are equally valid comments, we just don’t want spam in here. Sorry it’s taking a little longer to get through these approvals at present, we’re a little tied up at Gamescom this week.

  24. Can you make this game more realistic? I want to make it more durable and hardcore. Many players get tired of it after playing for 200 hours because the gameplay is too monotonous

  25. Can you make this game more realistic? The gameplay is too monotonous and introduces some urban skyline elements. I think only if this game is more realistic, it will be more enjoyable. Will there be any updates for Transport 3?

    1. There will come a point with any map where you believe there is nothing more to achieve. When that occurs is entirely at your discretion, however we have made the later game a more interesting challenge with the addition of the resource distribution to individual towns. You will find it difficult, if not impossible to supply every town with every product they desire, so you’ll have to decide which towns to either focus on first, or concentrate your efforts. There are then the additional landmarks which are well worth building, but will take dedicated lines to build. This lengthens the number of gameplay decisions you make, and creates more variety in gameplay.

  26. 很高興上市了 希望這次繁體中文輸入法不要再沒辦法使用了 TF2 一直沒有解決

    1. It is likely that your Mac Mini M4 will perform better as it conforms to the recommended specs for the game. Additionally, you will have the broader range of map sizes available to you so you can better control your game’s performance.

  27. Not much longer now 😉

    The Collector’s Edition arrived today.
Faster than the law allows ^^
Huge respect to you for getting this processed so quickly, even with Gamescom going on—and even though you probably aren’t packing the packages yourselves.

  28. Not much longer now 😉

Huge respect to you for getting this processed so quickly, even with Gamescom going on—and even though you probably aren’t packing the packages yourselves.

Transport Fever 3 Deluxe Edition: Your personal game code will be sent to you digitally via email after order confirmation.
I received the box today, as just mentioned, but I didn’t get the email that follows the order confirmation. I assume the code won’t be sent out until September 29th?

    1. Your game key will have been sent by email with your order – please check junk or spam mail folders to ensure it hasn’t ended up in there. You will be able to activate the code immediately, but the game won’t unlock until release day.

  29. Hello,

    Congrats with the release date!

    Quick question:
Where performance will be better? PS5 or Mac mini m4 (16GB)?

  30. Sam, good afternoon!! Thank you and the Urban team for the wonderful games. The game is already finished and is waiting to start. I’d like to ask you for one favor. I don’t think it’s technically difficult or time‑consuming. Could you make it so that the map doesn’t end virtually? For example, create a sea, mountains, or forest that stretches into the distance, instead of the way it was in previous parts, where we literally see the “end of the world” at the edge of the map.) Also, please add the option in the base game to send planes to other regions beyond the map boundaries. Thanks

  31. Hello Team, new to this game I wait for the release of the 3rd edition to buy it…and I’m very exited, already preordered.
Just a question for PlayStation players…are Keyboard and mouse supported on PS5?
    Thank you

  32. Hello, I am a 16-year-old student from China. Can you add a dedicated subway, light rail, and maglev icon to the game? I don’t want them to exist in the same way as railways in the game. Can you consider building elevated and underground stations? I think you have tested the map size 24 * 24 and it can be officially included in the official version. More importantly, I have purchased the deluxe version of this game to support you. Do you have any updates for this game?

  33. Will a train service be able to switch between track types? E.x: Can I use faster tracks that cause more pollution in the country and then use slower track that cause less pollution in a city.

  34. Hello Team,
Does the collectors edition only come with a steam key? Because i would love to get this edition but i will be playing on console, without the option for a game key for console buying it would not be viable.
    Thank you.

    1. Hello Michael, yes the Collector’s Edition offers the Steam version of the game only.

  35. i love it, my collectors edition arrived yesterday. just waiting on the game key now, idk when il get it. Cant wait to play once released

    1. Please check your junk/spam email folder from the account you ordered with, the key may have ended up in there due to the different address it was sent from.

  36. First of all, I’d like to thank the developers for the great news. I’m incredibly excited that the game is coming out very soon. I’ve been a longtime fan of the series, and I was happy to pre-order the deluxe edition of the third game in the series.
I have a question about performance on a Mac. The Steam page lists the following minimum system requirements: Apple M2 Pro and 16 GB of unified memory. Will I be able to run the game on a small map if I have an Apple M1 Pro and also 16 GB of unified memory? It would be very disappointing if this were impossible solely due to processor limitations, since the performance difference between the M1 Pro and M2 Pro isn’t exactly staggering. Thanks in advance for your reply, and I’m eagerly awaiting the release.

  37. I reproduced the reality in Transport Fever 2. I put more than 40 platforms in the large railway station. My the computer is very laggy is 9800XD3 5070. Have you optimized Transport Fever 3 for this problem

  38. I was very tempted to spend over 100 quid on the Collector’s Edition – just to get the book! 😅 Luckily, that edition only works with Steam, not with GOG. 🤦

Well, at least I save some money now, I guess. 🤷

  39. Will you add the card game from the Collectors Edition to the merch store? I would love to buy it.

  40. Recommended PC requirements for playing FullHD at maximum graphics settings with 60 FPS? And will there be DLSS, FSR or XeSS support in Tansport Fever 3?

    1. The recommended specs for the game, as shown on Steam are:
      OS: Windows 11
PROCESSOR: Intel Core i7-13700K or AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D
      MEMORY: 16 GB RAM
GRAPHICS: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 or AMD Radeon RX 6800 or Intel Arc A770, 8 GB VRAM

Obviously, the performance you get will depend greatly on the in-game settings you are using, the scale of the map and how well developed it is. The game does not make use of frame generation technologies.

      1. NVIDIA DLSS is a smoothing and upscaling technology, not frame generation. Those who will be playing TF3 on a mid-level PC would really like to be able to enable DLCC to improve picture quality. This would increase your potential audience, as well as the number of buyers of the TF3 game.

  41. Hi,
I would like to buy the Deluxe Edition, yet I still cannot locate the discount in the PlayStation store. When do you expect this issue to be resolved? Thank you!

    1. If you are eligible for the discount on the PlayStation store it will automatically apply and be reflected in the price you are shown. It won’t tell you there’s a discount, your price will simply be lower automatically.

  42. The game looks fantastic from everything shown so far, and I’ve already pre-ordered the Deluxe Edition.

You’ve mentioned there’ll be plenty of unedited gameplay to watch before launch — could you give a rough idea of when that starts? Specifically: around what point will content creators receive early keys and be able to publish gameplay? And are you planning any official developer livestreams before the 29th?

Asking mainly because the wait is the hard part — plenty of us would love to see extended real gameplay in the run-up. Even a rough week would help. Either way, really looking forward to the 29th!

    1. Lots of good questions there, and we haven’t yet locked down exact dates. You should expect raw gameplay to start appearing within the next couple of weeks.

  43. To another commenter, you guys said there’d be no frame generation technology. Disappointing, but not terrible. What about scaling? Can the game not be rendered at a lower resolution and then upscaled? If not, that’s genuinely horrible news for performance. I play at 1080p and frequently find myself upscaling from 720p to help my GPU juice out a couple more frames. Is that really not possible?

And if it isn’t, are you guys planning on adding upscaling or even frame generation support later on?

  44. Hi,

Still awaiting a reply concerning the running on my Mac Mini M4 256Gig..
Also.. will there be a demo version I can try to see the performance on the above? Would like to try before I buy.

    Thanks.

  45. Is there a reason why the prices for the Xbox and PlayStation versions of this game in Japan differ so much? It seems a bit unusual for console versions to have such a big price difference.

    1. It is possible that you are seeing the loyalty discount in one store or another. We know that on PlayStation particularly, the loyalty discount is applied to the price but hidden (it doesn’t tell you that it’s discounted due to store limitations). Beyond that, our aim is to offer the same price on both consoles, so there may be some local rules that have made the two prices different.

  46. Hi Sam,

will there be a preload and if when will it be possible.

    Thanks
    Maximilian

  47. Heyho!

  48. Is the release date a specific time for everyone (ie therefore 30th Sep for Australia) or follow the moon (ie 12am 29th where you live)? I couldn’t find an answer so asking here

    1. Typically, games are release at around 17:00 UTC on their launch day, so that would push it into the 30th for countries in UTC+5 or more. We don’t have a precise release time at this point, but it’d be worth assuming that the 30th is the more likely date for those beyond UTC+5.

  49. Hi Sam,

Will there be an option to preload the game on Steam before release? Given the size of the game, having the ability to download it in advance would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you!

  50. So I noticed the deluxe edition says we get six (6) extra vehicles though seven (7) are shown!? I think it is the truck that isn’t mentioned.
